Labor advocate and clean energy supporter Rick Levy has joined the board of directors of Clean Energy Fund of Texas. The financial services partner, now in its third year, aims to make clean energy conservation resources affordable for all Texans.

Levy is the President of the Texas AFL-CIO, a position he was elected to in 2017. As President, Rick has focused on helping to build a broader, bolder and more inclusive labor movement, and weaving a culture of solidarity to address the challenges faced by working people in Texas.

“The clean energy finance sector shares many of the values of union workers, as we team up to fight climate change, discrimination and inequality,” said Levy. “I am excited to join this board as we focus on equity, conservation and the creation of good, green jobs.”

Under Levy’s tenure, the pioneering labor federation has led the fight against legislative and political attacks on the labor movement, supported organizing new unions across Texas, and introduced and broadened significant initiatives to build worker power in Texas, including the Texas Climate Jobs Project, the Texas AFL-CIO Citizenship Program, the Texas AFL-CIO Racial Justice Task Force, and the Texas AFL-CIO Women’s Committee. He is a 37-year member of TSEU/CWA 6186.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently selected Clean Energy Fund of Texas along with the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University for a $156 million grant through its Solar For All program, making this an exciting time to join the board.

“We welcome Rick to the board and know he will help champion the equitable transition to a clean and regenerative economy, full of good green jobs and economic development opportunities,” said Billy Briscoe, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Clean Energy Fund of Texas.
