Buildings account for nearly one-third of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing that footprint through targeted efficiency upgrades lowers energy costs, cuts carbon emissions, and creates a healthier environment for the people who live and work inside.
Building energy efficiency loans are designed for improvements that will reduce the carbon footprint of the property. CEFTX provides loan financing to make those improvements accessible for Texas property owners.
What This Loan Finances
The Energy Efficient Buildings Loan funds improvements that reduce a property’s carbon footprint and lower operating costs. Eligible upgrades include:
- HVAC system replacement or upgrade
- LED and energy efficient lighting installation
- Weatherization of doors and windows
- Other improvements that demonstrably reduce building energy consumption
Projects can be located at a range of property types, including private apartment buildings, office buildings, restaurants and other small businesses, houses of worship, and other commercial or mixed-use facilities.
Who Can Apply
This loan is available to property owners in Texas who are pursuing energy efficiency improvements at eligible commercial or multifamily sites. Applicants may include:
- Owners of apartment buildings and rental housing
- Office building owners
- Small business owners (restaurants, retail, service businesses)
- Houses of worship
- Other commercial property owners seeking to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions
